The skimmer plays a key role in the filtration process by removing most impurities present on the surface of the water, such as leaves, grass, and insects. It is one of the main components of the filtration system, as it vacuums water loaded with debris before it is treated.

How a skimmer works

There are several types of skimmers, some with more or less wide openings (called "throats"), allowing a variable volume of waste to be vacuumed up.
