How a Mosquito Magnet Device Works

Mosquitoes are attracted to the CO2 we exhale, as well as humidity and heat. Mosquito Magnet devices use CO2 (from a propane gas bottle) combined with Octenol, a natural product emitted by certain plants and animals, to capture mosquitoes and other pests in a mesh where they dehydrate and eventually die. Octenol can be substituted with Lurex to target tiger mosquitoes!

🛟 Note: The gases released by Mosquito Magnet devices pose no risk to humans and pets. Additionally, these devices only attract biting insects, making them safe for other insects such as bees and butterflies.

Essential Accessories for Proper Operation of a Mosquito Magnet

  • A Butane gas bottle
  • An Octenol cartridge to attract biting insects, except tiger mosquitoes
  • A Lurex cartridge to target biting insects and tiger mosquitoes (potential carriers of the Zika virus)
  • A CO2 cartridge, recommended to purge the device to optimize its performance

How to effectively position your mosquito repellent?

  1. Identify mosquito breeding areas.
  2. Install your repellent between these areas and your living spaces to catch mosquitoes before they reach you.
  3. Place the device 20 meters away from areas where humans are, as close as possible to mosquito areas, to attract them to the device.
  4. Position the device in the direction of the wind, in an open area, avoiding tall grass and plants.
  5. Keep the device in the shade, as mosquitoes prefer to avoid the heat of direct sunlight.
