Classic liner or reinforced PVC: which one to choose?

Classic liner or reinforced PVC: full comparison

The traditional liner is custom-made in a factory, welded according to the specific characteristics of the pool before being installed. In contrast, the reinforced liner is supplied in rolls and then cut on-site to be welded directly within the pool.

Reinforced PVC Liner: a coating for atypical swimming pools

A standard liner can adapt to many types of pools, but some of them are unfortunately not compatible with this type of coating. It is advisable to choose a reinforced liner for pools with atypical shapes (such as lap pools, free-forms, or pools with submerged beaches). This option is also recommended for high-traffic pools, such as those found in campsites, gîtes, or public spaces.

Reinforced PVC Liner: a durable coating

A standard liner has a lifespan of between 5 and 10 years, depending on its quality and finish. Conversely, the reinforced liner benefits from a longevity of 15 to 20 years.

Its reinforced material gives reinforced PVC a lifespan significantly longer than that of the classic liner and ensures much better resistance. It is therefore recommended for high-traffic pools or for pools where animals are likely to bathe. Its PVC layers, combined with its reinforced core, guarantee exceptional resistance.

You can also extend the durability of your liner thanks to the anti-UV option, which will delay the fading of your coating. Moreover, in case of loss of watertightness, the reinforced liner will only require a replacement of the coating when it is no longer waterproof. It is a less costly renovation without great complexity.

Reinforced PVC Liner: Aesthetics and Design

An aesthetic inspired by Bali Stone reinforced liner

The reinforced liner offers both classic shades and more original, designer models. The new reinforced PVC collections even include structured reinforced membranes, offering a remarkable feel and design.

Like the Bali Stone type, many models have been designed to give an aesthetic and design dimension to your project.

Among the selection of reinforced PVC, you will find:

  • solid colors and classic prints, also available for 75/100th liners, varnished or not
  • Natural-look liner with tile effects or other finishes giving a high-end appearance to your pool
  • 3D Touch reinforced PVC liner, whose structure offers a more authentic sensation

Pool Liner: a…

More delicate installation

It is crucial not to underestimate the installation of your liner.

Installation of the reinforced liner

It is essential to be attentive, as the reinforced PVC liner requires the expertise of a professional for its installation in the pool. The laying of this liner is indeed technical, as the material must be welded within the pool. It is an ideal solution for pools with atypical shapes or for heavily used pools.

Installation of the classic liner

Unlike the reinforced membrane, the classic liner is manufactured in the factory according to the pool’s dimensions. Its installation is therefore feasible in DIY (do it yourself) mode. The liner is custom-designed in the factory, then shipped to your home. As soon as you receive it and the pool is ready, you simply need to put it in place by following the correct installation instructions. You can watch our liner installation video for more information.

Reinforced Liner: a more significant investment

Choosing a reinforced membrane offers many advantages, but its price must be taken into account.

  • Reinforced liner: between €30/m² and €50/m²
  • Classic liner: between €12.55/m² and €17.99/m². To get a precise estimate for your project, you can use our classic liner simulator.

The prices shown do not include installation. If you wish to hire a professional for the installation, it will be necessary to request several quotes from qualified installers.
