Comment redémarrer sa piscine après l'hiver

How to restart your pool after winter

Guide and steps to put your pool back into service after winter, from cleaning to starting up the filtration system.

Sunny days are arriving, it is time to prepare your pool.

When the water reaches 12°C, whether you chose active or passive wintering, it is advisable to start up your pool.

Above this temperature, bacteria and other micro-organisms begin to multiply. Depending on the type of wintering chosen, the restart will take more or less time.

Starting the pool

To restart your pool with the arrival of sunny days, follow the steps below to prepare your basin for optimal use:

Preparation

a. Remove the winter cover: Carefully remove the cover, clean it, let it dry before folding it and storing it in a dry, protected place.
Precautions for removing the cover

Be careful not to let rainwater accumulated on the cover flow into the pool. If the water is too heavy and the pocket is too full, empty it using a cellar pump.
To avoid damaging the cover with the weight of the water, it is recommended to remove it with two people.
b. Remove winter accessories: Remove floats, gizzmo bottles, plugs, and other protection devices from your pool during winter.

c. Put back the return nozzles and baskets: Replace the return nozzles as well as the baskets in the skimmers and the pump pre-filter.

d. Start the filtration pump: Check that the pump is working correctly before starting the cleaning.

Cleaning the basin

a. Clean the bottom of the basin: Use a vacuum brush connected to the vacuum point to clean the bottom of your pool. Set the 6-way valve to waste/drain mode so as not to clog the filter.

b. Clean the water line: Apply a specific gel to wash the water line and eliminate deposits.

c. Fill the pool: Add tap water, avoiding borehole water. The water level must reach 3/4 of the skimmers.

d. The cleaner the surroundings of your pool, the less the water will get dirty. Remember to sweep the coping and the deck towards the outside.

Inspection of the installation

a. Check the general condition of your installation: Inspect the filter, pump, electrical panel, and all other components to ensure they are working properly.

Filter maintenance

a. Put back the drain plugs: Replace the drain plugs under the filter and check the condition of the seals on the filter, the pump, and its pre-filter.

b. Descale the filter if necessary: Open the filter and add an appropriate cleaning product if needed. Let it act for 12 hours, then perform a backwash and a rinse until the color is clear in the sight glass.

By following these steps, your pool will be ready for ideal use during sunny days. Don’t forget to regularly check the water quality and perform the necessary maintenance to keep your pool in good condition throughout the season.
