Reinforced PVC Liner: what is it?
The reinforced PVC liner has established itself as an essential choice for swimming pool linings. It is undoubtedly the favorite among pool linings, thanks to its numerous advantages. Its wide range of colors and patterns, its longevity, and its robustness appeal to many pool owners.
As you will have understood, the reinforced membrane has become one of the preferred options for pool owners. Will it also be yours? We explain everything to you.
Reinforced PVC Liner: definition
The reinforced liner, also known as a reinforced membrane or reinforced PVC, is a lining that is both adaptable and solid. It guarantees the watertightness of your pool. What sets it apart from other linings is its ability to be installed on all pool configurations. This provides great flexibility during pool construction.
Manufacturing of reinforced PVC liner
The reinforced PVC is composed of several layers of PVC, similar to those of the classic 75/100 pool liner.
The structure of the reinforced liner is made with a liner sheet, hot-bonded in the factory. A polyester sheet is inserted between the two layers, thus providing reinforcement to its frame. The 75/100 liner therefore becomes a reinforced liner, ensuring excellent robustness.
Reinforced liner is available in thicknesses of 100/100, 150/100 or even 200/100. It is also possible to get them with or without varnish for better UV protection, depending on the brand and model.
Different brands of reinforced liner
Among the main brands of reinforced PVC, you will find:
The most widespread and established brands remain the first two. They are recognized for their superior quality in the swimming pool field and guarantee very high-quality watertightness.
Which types of pool can use a reinforced liner?
Reinforced liners are compatible with all pool configurations. However, this does not apply to all types of surfaces.
To install the reinforced liner, the surface must be in good condition and prepared. Reinforced membranes can be installed on concrete pools, polystyrene blocks, or galvanized steel panels.
On the other hand, the reinforced liner cannot be installed on shell pools, above-ground pools, or on surfaces that are already waterproof.
