inspirations for small outdoor spaces
The mini pool has many advantages! Ideal for small outdoor spaces, a mini pool occupies less than 10 m², while a small pool is between 10 m² and 20 m².
Why choose a mini pool?
Nowadays, pools are no longer just for large gardens. Indeed, compact and easy-to-install models offer various benefits.
- It easily integrates into (almost) all types of terrain. It is also possible to incorporate your mini pool into your terrace. We will discuss the different options a little further in the text.
- Small size, big savings. Thanks to its reduced size, it requires a smaller volume of water than large pools, resulting in savings on treatment products and heating, if applicable.
- There is no need for a building permit or a declaration of works for pools under 10 m².
In some cases, depending on the location, a prior declaration to the town hall may be required. Find out about the conditions from the relevant authorities.
Before starting your pool project, it is essential to check local urban planning regulations that could place restrictions on your initiative.
The different models of mini pools and small pools
To bring your project to life, you must choose the type of pool based on your expectations and your budget. There are 3 categories of pools:
- Small pool and mini pool in steel
Supplied in kits and simple to assemble, steel pools are the fastest and most practical option for creating a mini or small pool. Furthermore, most models offer several installation possibilities: above-ground, semi-inground, or inground.
- Small pool and mini pool shell
Its installation is easier compared to a concrete pool, but it still requires professional intervention (unlike a concrete pool which can be built by oneself more easily than people think!)
- Small pool and mini pool in concrete
Concrete is the strongest and most durable material, but it is also more expensive if you entrust all the work to a professional.
To help you visualize your mini or small pool project, we have prepared some ideas, inspirations and advice for the style and outdoor layout of mini and small pools !
Choose a minimalist style
A pool with a minimalist design is perfect for small formats. This allows for a clean and modern look while optimizing space. Use materials like wood and stone to create a bohemian atmosphere, or opt for concrete and metal to bring an industrial and contemporary style to your exterior. Add cushions and plants for a bit of warmth and color.

Create a green corner
Integrate plants and bushes to design a natural and relaxing place. Choose authentic stones and materials to offer an organic aesthetic to your outdoor space. This will build a truly welcoming sanctuary!

Small lap pool
The lap pool is an ideal solution for making the most of small spaces. Its elongated shape fits easily into gardens and offers a wide range of uses (sports, swimming, etc.).
If space does not allow for a lap pool of several meters, consider using a counter-current swimming pump! This will allow you to perform your exercises while remaining stationary, while enjoying a small pool.
Play with colors and materials
Hues and materials can transform a small space into a welcoming and dynamic place. Use bright colors to create a joyful and playful exterior. Add cushions, rugs, and accessories to give character to your small outdoor corner.
For a more unique pool, choose a liner imitating natural stones like StoneStile or Bali Stone. These liners provide a welcoming and authentic look to the pool.

Infinity mini pool
The infinity pool creates an illusion of an aquatic surface that blends into the landscape, bringing a touch of refinement and modernity to your garden. Furthermore, the overflow often gives the impression that the pool appears larger than it actually is.

An immersed beach for different swimming areas
A mini pool with an immersed beach offers the possibility of creating a relaxing place while cooling off. The immersed beach is particularly appreciated by children, allowing them to play in the water without needing to swim!

Mobile deck to maximize small spaces
A mobile deck, also known as a sliding deck, offers several advantages:
- Practical: the mobile deck provides an outdoor space around the pool and a solid surface where it is possible to place garden furniture such as deckchairs and a lounge area.
- Pool protection: this deck preserves the water from contaminants (leaves, insects, etc.), helps maintain the water temperature, and contributes to safety by reducing the risk of falls.

Semi-inground mini pool for a harmonious integration into the garden
A semi-inground pool, as its name suggests, represents the ideal alternative between a fully inground pool and an above-ground pool. By burying only part of your pool, the work is less extensive than for a fully inground pool. In addition, semi-inground pools present a real aesthetic asset. Generally featuring wood finishes, they integrate perfectly into the outdoor space.
MyPiscine favorite: the lime mini pool. This material adds character to your garden and gives an authentic atmosphere to your outdoor space.
