The effects of weather on pool water

⟨1/⟩Did you know that weather conditions affect the quality of your pool water? Indeed, ⟨1⟩climatic variations (sunshine, rain, wind, snow) can cause issues⟨/1⟩ such as limescale deposits on the walls or cloudy water with a decrease in pH. It is therefore natural to wonder ⟨2⟩how weather influences my pool water⟨/2⟩ to make maintenance easier.

Weather: the wind

Wind carries debris with it (branches, pollen, petals, small insects…). These impurities are attracted to the pool water and accumulate along the basin walls. As a result: ⟨3⟩filtration becomes more complicated, the pool gets dirty, and microorganisms increase in number⟨/3⟩. Moreover, you probably know that ⟨4⟩wind tends to lower water temperatures.⟨/4⟩

Solution: Regular pool maintenance (at least once a week) is essential. If gusts of wind are forecast, remember to ⟨5⟩cover your pool⟨/5⟩ in order to reduce the impact.

Weather: the rain

Is it a rainy season? Just like the wind, rain brings pollution, but also mineral salts and microorganisms. ⟨6⟩Rain can cause green or cloudy water.⟨/6⟩ It is therefore important to protect your pool to preserve the quality of its water.

Solution: ⟨7⟩A cover is your best ally. A pH tester is also a valuable tool.⟨/7⟩ The pH of pool water should be between 7.2 and 7.6.

Weather: the sun

During the summer, we appreciate the warmth the sun brings. Although ⟨8⟩heat warms the pool water, it also causes disadvantages such as water evaporation⟨/8⟩ (the water level in the basin drops) and promotes the development of bacteria. It is therefore important to remain vigilant even during heatwaves.

Solution: A good ⟨9⟩filtration system accompanied by a robotic cleaner⟨/9⟩ is recommended. Do not forget to take care of the walls and cover your pool when you are no longer using it.

Weather: the cold

⟨10⟩Cold and pools do not get along well.⟨/10⟩ It can deteriorate the structure of the basins as well as their walls. It is therefore highly recommended to cover your pool to prepare it for winterizing.

Solution: Consider investing in products adapted for the winter season such as winter floats or antifreeze kits.

⟨11⟩Vigilance⟨/11⟩: this is the key word for all pool owners. If, despite all your precautions, your pool water shows anomalies, do not hesitate to use specialized products: they offer solutions and advice adapted to your needs.
