Pool aquabike: equipment and accessories
Equipment and accessories for pool aquabikes

Aquabiking is booming. This activity combines the benefits of aquatic exercise with targeted cardio movements to strengthen the body deeply and gently. It is increasingly popular thanks to its benefits for the silhouette and health. Furthermore, complex equipment is not necessary to start, as basic gear is sufficient to practice in full comfort and safety. Discover the essential aquabike accessories.
Aquabike swimsuit: which choice?
As with any aquatic activity, aquabiking requires a swimsuit, a swim cap if you wish to protect your hair or if required by pool regulations, as well as shower gel and a towel to remove chlorine and dry off after the session.
For occasional use, a standard swimsuit may suffice, as long as it offers good support. Opt for a comfortable one-piece model or a two-piece swimsuit with a racerback sports bra and avoid bikinis or bandeau tops that might not stay in place during exertion. Men should favor long cycling-style shorts to prevent the saddle from rubbing against the thighs.
For regular practice, it is advisable to invest in a more suitable swimsuit to avoid discomfort caused by saddle friction. There are indeed swimsuits specially designed for aquabiking, featuring reinforced inserts and more durable materials, ideal for repeated use. Some brands offer cuts designed to reduce friction, with a reinforced chamois and silicone strips that keep the swimsuit in position during exertion in the water.
Try different models to find the one that suits you best, combining comfort, support, and freedom of movement. For a long-lasting choice, remember to favor chlorine-resistant materials.
Aquabiking socks and shoes
Friction and repeated pressure on the pedals or in the straps can indeed be painful and lead to redness and scrapes. Although some aquabiking centers provide or rent water shoes, it is preferable, for hygiene reasons, to have your own.
You could choose aquabiking shoes, such as jelly shoes or neoprene models, which will minimize chafing, prevent friction injuries, and offer better grip on the pedals. These shoes, designed to be non-slip, also reduce the risk of slipping during warm-ups or on the wet ground around the pool. Generally, they feature lateral perforations to drain water, guaranteeing comfort and freedom of movement, while reducing the sensation of “maceration.” Prices typically vary from 10 to 30 euros depending on the chosen materials and ergonomics.
There are also aquabiking socks, which offer many advantages. Very lightweight, they are easy to transport and are ideal for…
Those who engage in aquabiking after work or during their lunch break. Like aquabiking shoes, they have non-slip characteristics and protect against injuries as well as irritation caused by pedal friction. Additionally, their antibacterial properties protect you from germs often present in swimming pools, while shielding you from fungi, bacteria, and warts. However, their price is relatively higher (starting from 20 euros) and is mainly intended for aquabikers who practice this activity very regularly.
The gel saddle, a very comfortable optional accessory
Regular practitioners, heavier individuals, or those with sensitivity in the rear area might be interested in a gel aquabike saddle. More comfortable, it absorbs shocks and adapts to the user’s silhouette. Designed to resist chlorine and impacts, it is even suitable for professional or intensive use, thus representing a durable investment, even if its initial cost may seem high: expect to pay between 50 and 80 euros approximately.
